FAQ's Football & Cheer
Q. Does my child need his own equipment for Foootball? A. Although we encourage each player to obtain their own helmet and shoulder pads, it is not required. The registration fee for tackle football includes the use a helmet, chin strap, game pants (and pads), shoulder pads, game jersey, and a mouthpiece. All of these items except the mouthpiece and jersey (home) must be returned at the end of the season with only normal wear and tear. Players will not be permitted to register for the next season if equipment is not returned and Birth Certificates will be held. Some items are your responsibility to purchase. Your child will need football cleats and practice jerseys that you must provide. Q. Do you have try-outs for football?
A. No. As part of American Youth Football, we offer the opportunity to play football to any registrant meeting the scholastic, registration, and conditioning requirements. Q. Is a player expected to be at every practice?A. Practice is important. Football -- is a strenuous, physical sport. Kids learn complex plays at all levels, and master them through repetition. Regular conditioning is important. Missing all or part of practice can become a safety issue for your player and others on the team. Although American Youth Football has a mandatory play requirement for games, it also permits a coach to keep a player out of a game for missed practices or disciplinary reasons. A player must attend two practices the week of a game to be eligible to participate in that game. Safety is our top concern, and we respect the team dynamic. Players not exhibiting a solid commitment to the team by coming to practice on time and respecting the commitment of other players and coaches may be restricted from play. We understand that family and school schedules don't revolve around football, but ask that you make your participation a priority to ensure the safety and development of your player and his teammates. Let your coach know in advance if you will not be at practice. Q. What is included with the registration fees for Cheerleading? A. Included in the registration fee for competitive cheerleaders are uniforms, briefs, shoes and turtlenecks/crops. We do not provide practice uniforms, hair bows, or socks, but the girls will be required to purchase these to match the squad. Non-competitive cheerleaders will be provided with uniform, briefs, and turtlenecks/crops.
Q. Does my child need cheer experience? A. No, experience is not necessary. You may want to talk to your coach about your child's experience and expectations with cheerleading. Our coaches are skilled and experienced. They know how to work with all levels of cheerleaders and foster their enthusiasm, ability, and competency in the cheer routines.

Q. Does a parent or guardian have to stay at their child's practice? A. A parent or guardian must be available for a player at all times during practice. We understand that families may be juggling multiple kids at different practice sites, and you can't be in two places at once. You must have a responsible adult for your child at every practice! Be sure this designated responsible adult knows how to reach you in an emergency and can wait with your child if you are late to pick him/her/them up from practice. Please, do NOT ask a coach to be the one "watching" your child if you're not there. The coach is only responsible for the participants during practice, competition, and game times.
